After buying my 40L backpack (on clearance, of course) from REI over the weekend, I decided yesterday that it was time to go on my first training hike. I loaded the pack to 20 lbs (about 10% of my body weight, which is the recommended amount) and then set off on a pre-determined route. Since it was my first day, I didn’t want to go too hard and end up worse for the wear, but I didn’t want it to be too easy, either. After roughly 4 hours, I arrived at my final destination–Don Carlos Taco Shop–sweaty, just a little sore, and very, very hungry! Here’s the route I took, with some pictures as well:
06/23/13 EDIT: Unbeknownst to me, the pictures one uploads onto galleries are only available as long as you keep them in your WordPress library. This wouldn’t be a problem, except for the fact that my account has a very limited amount of space to hold images. I deleted *gulp* my entire library to save space, figuring that since the photos were already published here they would be saved. Little did I know…going to have set up an alternative file storing method, for sure.

You should come and join me in me trek for winter sun 🙂
Absolutely! My plan is to head south anyways, after I finish the Camino de Santiago I will probably go down to Andalucia. It’s pretty warm down there 🙂
